Welcome back to Maddie's Movie Reviews. Before I witnessed this cinematic masterpiece, I was going through a rough patch. I'd just been regected by 4 girls because they didn't fall for my natural pheromones, I got Fs in all of my classes, and my wife got bitten by 12 dogs. Then, once I personally sat down to witness this film, I was surprised to find a lambo in my driveway, a bottle of Jack Daniels in my fridge, and a thick beard. To what do I owe the pleasure of my infinitely improved life? Let's delve into the cinematic masterpiece that is Superfast, directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Alcaseltzer.
Superfast follows the adventures of Vin Sarento and White Guy Whose Favorite Move Of All Time Is Pitch Perfect. Vin Sarento and his gang, including Model Turned Actress, Rapper Cameo, Cool Asian Dude, and the love interest lady, as well as the Lesbian Stereotype, all have to contend with the resident crime boss Juan Carlos De La Sol, as he threatens to completely destroy the tradition of Mari Lwyd, a common american holiday.
The custom was first recorded in 1800, with subsequent accounts of it being produced into the early twentieth century. According to these, the Mari Lwyd was a tradition performed at Christmas time by groups of men who would accompany the horse on its travels around the local area, and although the makeup of such groups varied, they typically included an individual to carry the horse, a leader, and individuals dressed as stock characters such as Punch and Judy. The men would carry the Mari Lwyd to local houses, where they would request entry through song. The householders would be expected to deny them entry, again through song, and the two sides would continue their responses to one another in this manner. If the householders eventually relented, the team would be permitted entry and given food and drink.
Overall, I'd give Superfast (2013) a 10/10
